RA was in the cohort of our very first programme and was referred to us due to being disengaged at school. He was regularly late, had a poor attitude towards learning and was displaying bad behaviour.
He was also struggling to stay away from his negative peers in the community.
Whilst completing our programme he improved in all areas of school, home and the community, and he started to attend the boxing gym on an evening.
We stayed in touch with him and the rest of the group after they completed the programme, and we all climbed the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to raise funds for the Steve Prescott Foundation.
Whilst climbing the 3 Peaks we all noticed how easy he did it and saw that he was quite regimental in his approach, so we spoke with him about the possibility of joining the Armed Forces.
Since that conversation nearly 2 years ago it's all he's been focused on and we're so happy to say that he's now joined the Royal Marines and is currently undertaking his basic training.
We recently spoke with him, and he's told us how he's completely dedicated, is training hard and looking to join the marines Boxing team.
We're all really proud of him and looking forward to seeing what he achieves in the future.
We are thrilled to celebrate Rian and all that he has achieved since leaving us at the Think F.A.S.T Academy.
Initially referred to our program due to his lack of engagement in school, Rian has truly transformed his journey.
When we discovered his passion and interests, it became clear that he had incredible potential waiting to be unlocked. With the right support and encouragement, we were excited to help him pursue his dream of joining the Army. We couldn’t be prouder to share that he has successfully completed the first phase at AFC Harrogate!
Recently, Rian has also become the Company Boxing Champion! 🥇 This achievement is a testament to his hard work, resilience, and belief in himself. Sometimes, all it takes is a little encouragement and someone fighting your corner to help you realize your dreams.
