Gavin’s story is one of resilience and transformation. Originally from London, he faced significant challenges that led him to a secure unit in St. Helens. His involvement with the wrong crowd raised concerns among his social workers, who believed his life was in danger. However, after receiving dedicated support and guidance, Gavin was released, and he has never looked back.
Embracing his second chance, Gavin began working with Arsenal FC and became a lead participant in the No More Red campaign, which addresses the root causes of youth violence. This initiative focuses on creating safe spaces and providing opportunities for young people, a mission that Gavin passionately champions.
In recognition of his outstanding efforts, he was named the No More Red Champion in 2023 and received an award from Arsenal for his significant achievements in the community. Additionally, he was honoured with the Carmel Littleton Award for outstanding personal achievements by the borough of Islington in 2022, acknowledging his commitment to educating both youth and professionals.
Gavin’s influence extends to the arts as well; he recently released his debut song, which speaks out against knife crime and delivers a powerful, impactful message to young listeners. His dedication to boxing continues as he trains for his eighth fight, demonstrating discipline and perseverance.
In his commitment to community engagement, Gavin has delivered boxing workshops with organizations like BoxUpCrime, helping to empower and inspire others. He has also participated in board meetings and panels, where he has interviewed and hired individuals for crucial roles, including youth workers and NHS commissioners.
In 2024, Gavin returned to the very secure unit where he once was confined, delivering a presentation about his journey to young people currently in similar situations. His story serves as a beacon of hope, showing that a difficult beginning does not determine one’s future.
At the Think F.A.S.T Academy, we are immensely proud of Gavin and confident that he will continue to make a positive impact in his life and the community. His journey exemplifies the power of resilience, determination, and the ability to inspire change.
